June 2025
The Google Core June 2025 Update was rolled out on June 30 and lasted more than 16 days, until July 17, 2025. It was the second core update of this year and, according to Google, intended to make “more relevant and satisfying content from all types of sites” more visible. The first effects became noticeable around July 2, with high volatility between July 11 and 14. Remarkably, some websites partially recovered from previous updates, including the September 2023 Helpful Content Update. As always, Google insists that there are no immediate actions after a core update: a lower ranking does not automatically mean that you are doing something wrong. The advice remains to focus on helpful, reliable, and current content written for users, with strong EEAT signals (experience, expertise, authority, and reliability). Core updates come multiple times a year and are intended to continuously improve search results.
March 2025
The March 2025 Google Core Update ran from March 13 to March 27 and lasted a total of about 14 days. It was the first core update of 2025 and, according to Google, a “typical core update” intended to make search results more relevant and helpful. The effect became noticeable after a few days: some sites saw significant increases or decreases, although the impact seemed less broad than with previous updates. However, affected sites could take significant hits. Google did not provide new guidelines, but reiterated that there are no direct actions to restore. The advice remains: create content that is useful, trustworthy, and written for users, not just to rank. Improve your site continuously, because real recovery moments usually only follow subsequent core updates.
December 2024
The December 2024 Google Spam Update ran from December 19 to 26 and lasted approximately seven days. It was the third spam update of 2024 and followed immediately after the December core update. According to Google, it was a broad, general spam update, no specific link spam update, and no automated application of the new site reputation abuse policy (which is still done manually). The impact became visible within a few days and seemed wider and harder than previous spam updates. For affected websites, there were clear declines in Google Search Console, although the figures could fluctuate further due to the holidays. As always with spam updates, sites that go against spam policies may rank lower or even disappear completely from the results. Recovery is possible, but only if the site structurally follows the guidelines and Google's systems recognize this over a period of months.
December 2024
The December 2024 Google Core Update ran from December 12 to 18 and lasted only six days. It was the fourth and final core update of that year and stood out because it happened shortly after the November update, something unusual. According to Google, this was a typical core update designed to make search results more relevant and useful. The impact was quickly noticeable: tracking tools reported strong volatility within just a few days. As always, Google insists that there are no direct actions in case of declining rankings; a decline does not automatically mean that there is something wrong with your site. The advice remains the same: focus on current, reliable, and helpful content written for users, supported by EEAT signals. Core updates come multiple times a year, and recovery times usually only follow the next update.
November 2024
The November 2024 Google Core Update ran from November 11 to December 5 and lasted no less than 24 days. It was a typical core update where Google updated its core algorithms to make search results more useful and relevant. Google said the update was intended to “show more content that people actually find useful and less content that seems purely designed to rank in Search.” The first effects became visible around November 13—14 and continued to spread over the weekend of November 16—17. What was remarkable was a sharp peak in volatility around November 25—26, in the middle of the Black Friday period, and even movement in early December just before completion. Although this was not the biggest update ever (that honor went to March 2024), it did cause significant fluctuations for affected sites. As always, Google insists that there are no immediate fixes: the most important advice remains to create helpful, reliable, and people-first content.
